Title: Of Mice and Men

Keywords: rich, poor, symbiotic

Description: Mice. Small, poor, pest, not to be seen, not to be heard. To be exterminated. Men. Big, grand, rich, wanting to be seen, wanting to be heard. Living in stark contrast, living in the same space. Thus were the seemingly contradictory dictums that governed the Victorian relationship of the rich and poor; the mice needed the men for food, the men required the mice for luxury. Behind those erected gates that defined the boundaries of money and power was a not so invisible cog that kept it going.

Mice. Small, poor, pest, not to be seen, not to be heard. To be exterminated. Men. Big, grand, rich, wanting to be seen, wanting to be heard. Living in stark contrast, the poor now travel in small white vans, exterminated from the sight of the present. New dictums, yet old relations; mice still needed the men for food, men still required the mice for luxury. Behind those erected gates that defined the boundaries of money and power was a not so invisible cog that kept it going. Yet, in the guise of small white vans, thirty miles away, the mice has been exterminated from the optics of men.
